OVERVIEW

The Construction Industry Conversations (CIC) 2025 is a flagship thought leadership programme facilitated by the Association of Construction Project Managers (ACPM). Inspired by President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call to turn South Africa into a “vibrant construction site,” and championed by Honourable Minister Dean Macpherson (Public Works & Infrastructure), this 16-part online engagement series sets the stage for a coordinated infrastructure revolution.

Through a two-phase series, Construction Industry Conversations (CIC) 2025 brings together public and private stakeholders to critically examine the infrastructure landscape, identify challenges, spotlight opportunities, and build a collaborative Public-Private Partnership Masterplan that drives economic growth, job creation, and national transformation.

Phase One consists of an eight-part series that examines South Africa’s current infrastructure landscape, benchmarking against global best practices to identify challenges, opportunities, and future scenarios for positioning the country as a leading construction site. This phase analyses the structural, regulatory, financial, and operational factors that influence infrastructure development, offering a data-driven understanding of where the industry stands today.

Phase Two consists of an integrated eight-part series positions the private sector not merely as a participant but as a co-leader in shaping South Africa’s infrastructure future. By fostering strategic partnerships, enhancing capacity building, and aligning policies, this phase drives sustainable

development, economic inclusion, and global competitiveness. It explores the full infrastructure development value chain. ensuring that private sector expertise, investment, and  innovation play a central role in transforming South Africa into a world-class construction hub

PURPOSE, AIMS & OBJECTIVES

The Construction Industry Conversations (CIC) 2025 programme is designed to:

• Assess the current state of infrastructure delivery and coordination in South Africa.
• Foster alignment with the National Development Plan (NDP) goals, ESG targets, and Health & Safety imperatives.
• Strengthen public-private partnerships by crafting a collaborative Infrastructure Masterplan.
• Build a capable, future-ready workforce through knowledge sharing, digital innovation, and skills transfer.
• Promote sustainability and economic inclusion by identifying gaps and formulating actionable strategies.
